  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder), no matter where you currently live

  • A non-U.S. citizen currently living in the U.S. (Hawai‘i or the mainland) who does not require a visa to study

After you apply

An application for admission may be made at any time, but no later than the published application dates indicated above for admission to a specific term. Every effort will be made to review and evaluate applications on a timely basis.

  • All applications (international or domestic) will be processed within 2 weeks.

Once accepted, you’ll have one month to confirm or defer your enrollment. Admission can be deferred for up to one calendar year without reapplying.

1. HTIC Application

HTIC application includes:

  • Admissions Essay

    • 300 - 500 words required for direct admission to the Liberal Arts Program

    • Optional for College Preparatory applicants

  • Copy of Passport

  • $50 non-refundable Application Fee

2. Transcripts

  • At the time of application, upload a copy of your high school transcript.

  • Upon acceptance, submit the official final transcript through your institution.

    • U.S. transcripts must be sent directly from the school to HTIC at:
      Hawaii Tokai International College Office of Admissions
      91-971 Farrington Highway
      Kapolei, HI 96707 U.S.A.

  • Note:

    • International transcripts can be submitted with your other documents.

    • Make sure the GPA is on a 4.0 scale.

    • If transcripts are unavailable: Provide a certificate showing completion of high school education with minimum GPA: 2.5 (for both freshmen and transfers)

3. Housing Application (Optional)

  • If you choose to live on-campus, submit a separate housing application

    • $20 non-refundable Application Fee

  • Admission requirements differ based on your application status: see the International Admissions page or the U.S. Admissions page.

  • Yes. The fee is $50 for US applicants and $100 for international applicants. 

  • While it is recommended, it’s not required for admissions to the College Preparatory Program (Academic English Program). Upon arrival, international students will undergo an English evaluation process and be placed in a class that matches their English proficiency level. For admission into the Liberal Arts program (Associate Degree Program), submission of test scores is required. See details on English proficiency.

  • For the Liberal Arts Program (Associate Degree Program), a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. There is no minimum GPA requirement for the College Preparatory Program (Academic English Program).
