Vision and Mission
Vision Statement
To educate students to become enlightened global citizens who contribute to world peace.
Our Mission
Hawaii Tokai International College is an international gateway for students interested in education bridging diverse international perspectives, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Hawaii Tokai graduates earn Associate in Arts degrees and emerge as lifelong learners who contribute positively to the world.
HTIC’s Commitment to Peace
Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) carries forward the legacy of Dr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae, founder of the Tokai University Educational System and a devoted pacifist. Deeply moved by the devastation of World War II, Dr. Matsumae believed that lasting peace could only be achieved through mutual understanding among nations. He dedicated his life to promoting education as a pathway to global harmony.
HTIC embraces this vision through a strong focus on Positive Peace—not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, sustainability, and human dignity. Students explore history, international relations, and world religions to develop a global perspective and respect for diverse ways of thinking. Courses on environmental and social challenges encourage students to seek practical solutions for a more equitable future.
At HTIC, peace begins with the growth of each individual. By nurturing personal awareness, empathy, and global responsibility, we prepare students to become active contributors to a more peaceful world.
