As a part of International Education Week 2015, Wednesday, November 18, was “Japan Day” on the campuses of Hawaiʻi Tokai and UH West Oʻahu. Marukame Udon served Japanese food on the Hawaiʻi Tokai campus lawn ($3 – $6 per dish) beginning at 4:30 pm. Then the Japanese animated movie “The Garden of Words” [言の葉の庭] was screened in the Hawaiʻi Tokai Auditorium (free admission!) at 6:00 pm. UHWO Professor Jayson Chun delivered a keynote mini-lecture before the movie. Hawaiʻi Tokai was honored to welcome Consul General Yasushi Misawa from the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu as a special guest.
