Activity Chaperone

Job Statement:
Essential Functions:
1. Escort groups of international students of various ages on fieldtrips
2. Converse with students in English to improve their English comprehension and  production skills
3. Effectively communicate with vendors, IP staff, accompanying teachers and school bus driver during activities
4. Complete post-activity reports
5. Provide basic first aid assistance when needed
6. General duties and other tasks as assigned
 
Working Conditions:
1. Frequently works in a variety of outdoor environments
2. Occasionally works in indoor, air-conditioned environments
 
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral
2. Good teamwork skills
3. A well-rounded knowledge of American culture and educational sightseeing places on Oʻahu
4. Understanding of and respect for a diversity of students and cultural backgrounds
Desired Qualifications:
1. Experience in working with international students of various age groups and language backgrounds
2. Work experience in a school setting, especially with an international population
3. First Aid, CPR, AED certification
Essential Physical & Cognitive Functions:
1. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
2. Periodically lift, pull, and push items weighing up to 20 pounds
3. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
