Articulation Agreements and Active Transfer Relationships
between Hawaiʻi Tokai and other Colleges/Universities

Hawaiʻi Tokai International College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. At the discretion of the receiving school, students may transfer credits to and from other accredited American colleges and universities. As these credits count toward the 4-year institution’s core requirements, after transferring, Hawaiʻi Tokai graduates can focus on courses that fulfill the requirements toward their major.

In order to facilitate the transfer of Hawaiʻi Tokai students to 4-year institutions in the U.S. and abroad, the College maintains a number of active transfer relationships, including articulation agreements, with the following institutions:

Graduated: Fall 2017
Tokai University
Major: International Studies

As a homeschool student from kindergarten to high school, I found the small learning community at Hawaiʻi Tokai to be the perfect place for me to transition into the American school system. Hawaiʻi Tokai allowed me to hone my Japanese conversation skills, as most of my friends spoke to me in Japanese. Because I was not sure of what type of degree I wanted, the 15 short months spent at Hawaiʻi Tokai gave me a little more time decide on a major and a university. Now a student at Tokai University, I find that many of the liberal arts courses I took at Hawaiʻi Tokai provided me a strong foundation for my future, especially in the fields of international economics and politics. Hawaiʻi Tokai is a suitable steppingstone for non-native English speakers who wish to transfer to an American university, as well as for native English speakers who wish to transfer to a Japanese university. In addition, Hawaiʻi Tokai is a smart investment for those just graduating from high school who are not yet fully certain of their desired major. Studying at Hawaiʻi Tokai can open many doors of opportunity for those who wish to become a global citizen.
