Job Statement:

Under the general guidance
of the Librarian, tutors will share their skills and knowledge with the
students of HTIC while helping them to excel in their academic studies and in
the acquisition of English as a second language. Tutors provide assistance to
students on class assignments, discuss projects, clarify student understandings
of readings, and improve their English-language conversation abilities. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with
    writing assignments, ranging from short paragraphs to research papers.
  • Assists with
    reading skills such as reading comprehension.
  • Assists students
    with oral communication skills including rate, accuracy, and fluency.
  • Listen and
    provide feedback on student presentations.
  • Subject-specific
    tutors will also assist students in math, writing, reading and oral
    communication.
  • Follows all
    guidelines, policies and procedures as written in the Tutor’s guide.
